Downton Abbey is a British television drama set in the early 1900s on the estate of the Grantham family. It follows the lives of the artistocrats and the servants who work and live there.
The first series spans the two years before the Great War beginning with news of the sinking of the Titanic, which sets the story in motion. The second series covers the years 1916 to 1920 and focuses on World War I and women's rights.
