Kennedy Odede and Jessica Posner

Social entrepreneurs Kennedy Odede and Jessica Posner are co-founders of Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), a community organization combatting hopelessness, poverty, and gender inequality in Kenya's urban slums. Serving over 75,000 beneficiaries, their innovative model of grassroots leadership links free education for at-risk girls with holistic social services for the entire community—making the school a portal for large-scale social change. Their approach is to invite both genders to be part of the solution and build a community invested in its own future. Odede and Posner have been widely recognized for their humanitarian work, including in a feature presentation by Chelsea Clinton on NBC and in Nicholas Kristof's book and documentary film, A Path Appears. The couple's best-selling book, Find Me Unafraid, relates their own inspiring story of joining common cause and is a testament to the power of young people to have a deep impact on the world.
