Stacy Blake-Beard is the Deloitte Ellen Gabriel Professor of Women and Leadership at Simmons College’s School of Management, where she teaches organizational behavior. She is also faculty affiliate at the Center for Gender in Organizations at Simmons. Blake-Beard’s research focuses on the challenges and opportunities presented by mentoring relationships, and specifically on how these relationships may be changing as a result of increasing workforce diversity. She is also interested in issues facing women as they develop mentoring relationships and in the dynamics of formal mentoring programs. A widely published author, she is co-editor of Handbook of Research on Promoting Women’s Careers and the upcoming Mentoring Diverse Leaders: Changing People, Processes and Paradigms. Blake-Beard was recently named as representative for the Board of Governors for the Academy of Management, and has served on the advisory boards of MentorNet, the Harvard Project on Tenure, and Harvard Medical School’s Center for the Study of Diversity in Science.
