Notices of Class and School Cancellations

Notices of class cancellations, room changes, or other schedule modifications will be posted on the blackboard located outside the Office of the Registrar, room C-210. School cancellation announcements will be broadcast over WBZ radio and television, and 7 News at http//www.schoolclosings.com. A voicemail message will also be recorded on the College's information hotline, 617-521-3463 and closing information will be posted on the Simmons College website at https://connection.simmons.edu/. You will also receive a text message via Rave Alert, the college's emergency notification system, if you have provided a number for text messages.

Student Mailboxes

Each student is assigned a mailbox to receive intra-College mail. The following student mailboxes should be checked daily for notices and information:

AARC

The Academic and Administrative Resource Center (AARC) is a web-based service that current students can use to register for classes, access grades, check their academic records, and change their personal profiles (address, phone number). To access AARC you must use Netscape 4.76 or higher or Internet Explorer 5.5 sp2 or higher. Proprietary browsers (such as AOL, Prodigy, Juno, or MSN) are not compatible.

Usernames and passwords in AARC are the same as for Simmons email and WebCT accounts. If you are unsure of your Simmons username or password, please contact the Help Desk at 617-521-2222. Please have your student ID number handy as the Help Desk will need that information in order to assist you.

Telephones

Calls within the College may be made on the phones located at the information desk, the library lobby, the Fens entrance, the commuter lounge, the Dix lounge, and Bartol dining room. Exterior campus telephones are located at the rear entrance of Beatley Library, the Park Science Center, all residence halls, and the Fens entrance. These phones should be used only for emergencies or for requesting permission to enter the building after closing hours.

Resident students are provided with one local telephone access and one personal voice mail. Students may choose to purchase a Paetec long-distance calling plan (see http://www.paetec.com). Students can sign up for the service and/or check their bills online at http://www.campuslink.paetec.com. An information packet will be sent to on-campus mailboxes with detailed information on services and rates. Each student must supply her/his own telephone.
