Prepare for Lifelong Career Success
Simmons provides an environment that empowers young women to be leaders in their professions — and have meaningful lives. The Career Education Center (CEC) helps you discover who you are and how to find the careers that are right for you. Located in one of the world's great career capitols, Simmons provides a multitude of inroads to the city's health care, business and finance, education, technology, social work, communications, and research professions. No matter what your career focus is, the CEC can help you pursue it. And our services are available to you throughout your life.
The Career Education Center uses a comprehensive five-step career development model called the STEPS Career Development Plan. It provides a career curriculum and action steps to help students acquire knowledge of self, career paths, and academic and career opportunities.
First Year: Explore and assess skills and interests.
Sophomore Year: Select major(s)/minor(s) and gain experience through internships, service learning, research projects, and study abroad program
Junior Year: Refine focus and explore career options, including the job market or graduate school.
Senior Year: Determine best options and create a strategic plan to achieve career goals.
The CEC's team of career development professionals has expertise in providing personalized career coaching. In addition, the CEC works closely with the academic deans and program directors to provide strategic, integrated career development workshops that begin in the first year at Simmons.
