Title: Assistant Librarian (Cataloging), Worcester State University


Research Interests: Information retrieval and storage; the problem of relevance in information search and retrieval; theories of knowledge organization; information systems analysis; meta-theory in library science, philosophical and epistemological foundations and problems of library and information science [hermeneutical phenomenology ; critical theory]; and innovative developments in bibliographic control in the inter-linked semantic web world

Bill is an academic librarian working in Massachusetts public higher education at Worcester State University. An Assistant Librarian (Cataloging), his duties include: cataloging & classification (print, audio-visual, and other non-print), authority file management, ILS systems maintenance, Reference duties, and information literacy instruction. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Villanova University, with additional graduate level work in Continental philosophy at Boston College; he received his MSLS at Simmons College GSLIS. His previous career was in programming/analysis, and technical help desk support, as practiced in Management Information Systems in IBM AS400 minicomputer environments.

He is a member of ACRL, ALCTS, ASIS&T, ISKO, and SPEP.
