Research Interests: Archives management, exploring the relationship between library history and American social history
First introduced to the library community through her successful career as editor-in-chief of two international library and education publications, Brenda Mitchell-Powell decided to pursue her interest in the library and information sciences. Her experience as a master's level student at the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science convinced her to continue her studies as a doctoral student. As such, she plans to concentrate in archives management, exploring the relationship between library history and American social history. Brenda is the winner of a 2006 ALA Spectrum Scholarship and a 2008 Spectrum Fellowship. She believes strongly in personal transformability and is quoted as saying, "I am proof that it's never too late not only to reinvent yourself, but to also satisfy aspirations."
