Linda Dunn is a freelance periodical/database indexer and sole proprietor of Dunn Information Organization. She has been indexing periodicals for thirty years, first for print indexes and more recently for databases. Linda has a Masters of Library Science from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters in Film History from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. She has been indexing English and French journals for a European-based database since 2007.
Linda is a member of the American Society for Indexing and has presented several workshops on periodical indexing and creating controlled vocabularies for ASI chapters. Currently she is president of the New England Chapter of the American Society for Indexing (www.newenglandindexers.org). She is the founder and former manager of the Periodical/Database Indexing Special Interest Group of ASI.
For the July - September 2011 issue of KeyWords, the Bulletin of the American Indexing Society, GSLIS CE instructor Linda Dunn wrote the feature article "Ten Things I Learned Teaching a Workshop on Periodical/Database Indexing Online" about her experiences teaching at Simmons. "Thanks to a lot of help from the Simmons Continuing Ed staff, Kris Liberman and Stacy Reardon," she says in the article, "as well as a wonderful set of participants, teaching my first online workshop was a wonderful experience."
