Rebecca Metzger

| Title: | Reference & Instruction Librarian |
| Email: | metzgerr@lafayette.edu |
Before becoming a librarian, Rebecca Metzger was a marketing and public relations specialist for art museums, arts organizations, and individual artists. During this time, she placed articles in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Vogue, Village Voice and on NPR and NY1 television, among other major news outlets. She also secured commissions and raised funds for artist projects. As a Reference and Instruction Librarian at Lafayette College, she has founded a student advisory committee, initiated programs geared to first year students and parents, created a Facebook page and built an online fan base for the library, helped to increase hours and visibility of IM reference, and partnered with the Counseling Center, Writing Center, and Parents Program. She is an academic advisor, a faculty advisor to the Hillel student organization, has served as the Provost-appointed chair of the College's Jewish Studies Advisory Committee, and was recently elected the chair of the faculty's Teaching and Learning Committee. While her initial job description included only a small marketing focus - to produce a semi-annual newsletter - she has successfully adapted her prior marketing skills to her job as a librarian, thus raising the visibility of the library's services across campus.
