Heather Hedden is principal of Hedden Information Management, offering contract services in taxonomy and controlled vocabulary development, book and web site indexing, and web site design. Previously she worked as an information taxonomist with enterprise search software vendor Viziant Corporation and as a controlled vocabulary editor for periodical index and reference database publisher Gale (formerly Information Access Company). Heather is active in the American Society for Indexing, having served as vice president and president of the New England Chapter and also in leading the Web Indexing SIG and founding and leading the Taxonomies & Controlled Vocabularies SIG. She has also published numerous articles and given many conference presentations and workshops on indexing and taxonomy topics. Heather has also written a book, Indexing Specialties: Web Sites (Information Today Inc./American Society for Indexing, 2007).
