Michael John Rogan is the Music Librarian of the Ruth Lilly Music Library, housed in the new Perry & Marty Granoff Music Center at Tufts University.  Michael received his Master's Degrees in Library Science and in Historical Musicology from Columbia University.  He has worked in the Music Department of the Research Collections of the Boston Public Library, and previously was the Head of the Bakalar Library at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge.  Before teaching LIS 435 Music Librarianship at Simmons GSLIS, he taught research methods at the Longy School of Music as well as courses in American Music.

Michael enjoys playing his 1837 Chickering & McKay square grand piano, and collecting memories of musical and other experiences from far-flung cities of the world (highlights to date include: London, Paris, Geneva, Frankfurt, Venice, Florence, Seoul, and Tokyo).  He is an active member of the Music Library Association, currently serving on the Board of Directors as Treasurer/Executive Secretary.
