Vivienne Piroli is the School of Health Sciences Librarian at Simmons College. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Simmons.  In her role as SHS Librarian she is responsible for providing student and faculty support for programs in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Nutrition and Physical Therapy. Vivienne places particular emphasis on Information Literacy instruction for these groups and finds it is symbiotic with curricula based in Evidence Based Medicine. As an adjunct Vivienne teaches a course on User Instruction which is designed to teach budding librarians how to design Information Literacy instruction according to professional standards and pedagogically sound practices. She has authored several articles and book chapters on a range of information literacy topics. She was nominated for the 2009 Association of Library and Information Science Educators' Excellence in Teaching, award. She received her undergraduate education from University College Dublin, Ireland and holds a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education from Trinity College Dublin. Vivienne has received a Master's degree in history from Harvard University and her Master's in Library and Information Science from Simmons College.
