Kathryn had her first archival experience as a 16 year old researcher in the correspondence of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt at the Roosevelt Presidential Library in Hyde Park, New York -- after that, there was no turning back. She spent considerable time in museums, historical societies, and archives, for fun and profit, eventually earning a Masters in history and discovering records management. During her tenure at the Massachusetts Archives, Kathryn combined records management and appraisal and was initiated into the joys of MARC by Simmons alum Nancy Richard. Kathryn had the good fortune to attend Simmons GSLIS and take reference with Allen Smith and Systems Analysis with Robin Peek. She continues to believe that convergence is not just for technology and that information science, library science, archives, and records management must and should increasingly converge. She is currently overseeing a CLIR "Hidden Collections" manuscripts processing grant in the history of public health policy and is Principal Investigator for the Center for the History of Medicine's participation in a Sloan-funded project to digitize rare medical texts to create a freely-available online "Medical Heritage Library."
