Associate, Professional services firm in Waltham, MA

QUAL: 

  • BA/BS degree required, master's degree preferred, in business or other relevant field
  • Two-to-five years experience in professional services or other relevant environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, highly professional presence, articulate and prepared with all pertinent information
  • Strong analytical thinking and superior organizational skills
  • Familiarity with research methodologies, use of databases etc.
  • Skilled in presenting research in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

DUTIES: Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks Associate on behalf of our client, an innovative professional services firm in Waltham, MA. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of two to five years of substantive work experience in a professional services firm and excellent quantitative/qualitative analytical skills. Working in a collaborative environment, Associates complete research projects and other assignments under the direct or indirect supervision of Partners and/or Principals, conduct market research and participate in member interviews to surface issues worthy of the network members' consideration.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analysis

  • Using various tools and resources, conduct research on individuals and companies, business and/or environmental issues, government regulations, market issues, corporate competition, etc.
  • Synthesize research and identify relevant issues, themes, sources, etc.

Content development

  • Support content development through research, analysis, synthesis, writing and editing
  • Present research findings to Partners and Principals in a clear and concise manner
  • Assist Partners and Principals with preparation and development of client materials and presentations
  • Prepare background materials on public and private companies and individuals
  • Develop outlines and prepare reports
  • Take notes during conference calls, interviews and meetings and summarize key points and statements

Client relations

  • Assist Partners and Principals in a manner that maintains Client in premier standing in the eyes of its clients
  • Develop content and relationship knowledge to support member/client interaction
  • Participate in status meetings, both internally and with clients

Public Services Librarian 1, Connecticut State Library, Hartford, CT

QUAL: Minimum Qualifications Required: A Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association. Knowledge of professional principles and practices of library science including classification systems, reference sources and techniques, acquisition, cataloging and filing, bibliographic sources of information and library automation; ability to formulate internet and database search strategies, knowledge of library administration principles and techniques; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to analyze and solve problems relating to library methods and procedures.
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of a broad range of current and historical reference, bibliographic and collection development tools in both hard copy and electronic formats. Ability to lift materials or boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.

DUTIES: The Connecticut State Library is recruiting for a full time Public Services Librarian 1. The incumbent will work under the direction of the State Library Unit Head and be accountable for performing a full range of professional library duties and providing reference and public service in the Library. Weekend (Saturday) hours, on a rotating schedule, will be required for this position.
Duties Include: Assisting patrons in locating and obtaining information, in person, on the telephone, through correspondence, email or other electronic platforms; conducting research in response to patron inquiries; providing information on library activities, facilities, rules and services; explaining and assisting in use of reference sources, catalogs and indexes, in all formats; explaining and assisting in use of library equipment; working effectively and collaboratively with other library staff; may plan and direct or carry out special projects; may create and contribute content to Library web page; may conduct workshops; may serve as liaison to library groups and organizations; may compile reports and statistics; may supervise and/or train paraprofessional, clerical staff or summer work staff; and performing related duties as required.

SALARY: The starting rate for this position is $56,028 annually.

Librarian, Children's Hospital, Boston, MA

QUAL:  MLS from an accredited library program. Minimum 1-2 years experience. Experience searching PubMed and other biomedical databases required.

DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Manager of Library Services, the Librarian will spend 20 hours working in the Hospital Library and 20 hours working in the William Stem Library in the Radiology Dept. The duties will vary depending on the site. In the Hospital Library the librarian will be responsible for updating the library's website using the hospital's CMS, managing all functions related to the print/electronic journal subscriptions, providing Current Awareness services to the Nursing Dept. and cataloging new materials. The duties required in the William Stem Library include performing complex literature searches, collection development for the book/journal collections, managing the budget and providing Current Awareness services to Radiology staff.
Duties: The following describes the primary responsibilities in the Hospital Library:
1. Manages the library's journal subscriptions. This includes print subscriptions (checking them in, claiming missing issues, binding) and electronic subscriptions (dealing with publishers, adding titles to the AToZ list, managing the Excel spreadsheet, changing Serhold records, updating LinkOut, retrieving and managing online statistics).
2. Catalogues new materials and manages circulation activities. Adds new materials to the library's integrated online system (ILS). Does limited original cataloging using the National Library of Medicine classification scheme and some copying cataloging. Generates email overdue reminders from the ILS.
3. Updates the library's website. The librarian reviews the library's website yearly and updates/deletes where appropriate.
4. Provides selected Current Awareness services. Distributes a monthly CA service to various Nursing services using the EndNote software.
5. Is trained as a back-up for providing interlibrary loan/document delivery service. Using Docline, fills requests for articles from other libraries and requests articles for our staff not available from Countway or from our own collection. Emails articles to our staff from Countway or from our collection for older/non-electronic materials.
The following describes the primary responsibilities in the William Stem Library:
6. Provides reference support to library users. Reference support includes answering ready reference questions, locating materials, verifying citations and performing in-depth literature searches. Offers basic instruction on library resources.
7. Evaluates the collection and orders books and journals for the department.
8. Performs Current Awareness search updates per the request of the faculty.
9. Manages the administrative functions for the departmental library.
10. Keeps current with the changes in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and similar databases.
11. Participates in marketing library services through excellence in customer service and other promotional activities.
