Assistant Youth Services Librarian, The Westfield Athenaeum, Westfield, MA

QUAL: Bachelor's Degree required with ALA/MLS preferred plus 3-5 years increasingly responsible experience in library services to youth and families. Excellent customer service and communication skills, knowledge of children's literature, creative programming skills and computer literacy are required.

DUTIES: The Westfield Athenaeum is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, service-oriented individual to help plan, develop, promote and provide services to children and their families. Responsibilities include staff management, reference and circulation services, young adult services, collection development, programming, community outreach, public relations, acting as the liaison to local public and private schools and related duties.

QUAL: MLS with courses in children's literature and programming; one year professional experience working with children preferred.

DUTIES:  Provides reference and reader's advisory services in a very busy children's room at branch library. Prepares book displays and booklists. Conducts story time. Temporary Part-Time 7 hours per week thru 6/30/2010

Thursdays 10:00 - 1:00

Assistant Head, Children's Services Librarian, Russell Library, Middletown, CT

QUAL: Applicants must have a Master's Degree in Library Science, with at least four years of progressively responsible professional and supervisory experience in a library setting. Excellent backgrounds in children's literature, child development & child life studies are required. Word & Excel are a must. Strong supervisory skills and outreach experience are necessary. Starting date: January 4th, 2010

DUTIES: Russell Library (Middletown, CT) needs an Assistant Head, Children's Services Librarian.
You will be actively assisting in the management, marketing and oversight of a very busy, community-centered, children's services department. Outreach to schools, day care centers and community groups, plus in-library programming are all part of the work day. A genuine avocation to work with children of all ages is essential.

SALARY:  Salary range begins at: $52,104.
