Humankind has produced more information in the past 50 years than all previous history combined. The unrelenting challenge of our profession is to discern truth and derive meaning, at a time when the sheer volume of information threatens to overwhelm us.

As library and information professionals, our role is to help individuals, families, organizations, and communities gain access to ideas and information and become more thoughtful consumers in the pursuit of truth and knowledge.

Simmons founded a library science school in 1902, a turn-of-the-century moment between the Industrial and Information revolutions. For more than 100 years, our graduates have been pioneers in their profession, recognized for their amazing achievements and remarkable careers.
