Career Education Center
Services available include extensive job listings developed through the joint
efforts of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science and the
Career Education Center.
A series of workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills, job-search
strategies, and related career planning issues are also available to help
prepare professionals for their first positions. Students may register
with the Career Education Center to establish a recommendations file to
house letters of reference, which can further support their candidacy for
positions. Attention is given to the particular career needs through appointments
with the Career Education Center. The school and the Library and Information
Science Student Association (LISSA) support these efforts to help students
with their career goals by offering additional or joint programs.
Career Resource Library
Located on the third floor of One Palace Road, the Career
Resource Library is a specialized
collection of career planning, job hunting, employer, and graduate school
information. A librarian is available to assist students and alumni with
their career research. Please call 617-521-2510 for more information.
Professional and Preprofessional Employment
The Office of the Assistant Dean maintains a comprehensive list of professional
and preprofessional positions available in the greater Boston area, New England,
and out-of-state libraries. A list of mentors is also maintained (mentors are
GSLIS graduates who are currently working professionally in a library). These
lists are maintained in notebooks, which are available outside of the Matarazzo
Student Lounge.
