GSLIS Technology and the TOR
What is the TOR?
The Technology Orientation Requirement (TOR) is a series of readings, short quizzes and hands-on activities designed to acquaint you with the technology and resources you will use in the GSLIS program. All new students are required to complete it as they begin their first semester.
Where can I find the deadlines?
Deadlines and other information about the TOR can be found on the materials website at http://gslis.simmons.edu/tor.
What can I do on Advising Day?
On Advising Day, you will have a chance to ask questions. Tech Lab and library staff will be available in the Paresky Conference Center (ie, the main Advising Day location), as well as in the Lab (Palace Road Building, P-213).
Optional workshops on online library resources will also be offered on Advising Day (sign-up required). It will cover library-specific information for Part 2 of the TOR, including the online catalog (OPAC) and searching library-related databases. You can sign up for all of these workshops at the Tech Lab table on Advising Day, or online in advance at http://gslistechlab.eventbrite.com.
