Can Simmons Help Me Find A Job?

There are a variety of job resources here at GSLIS:

Visit the New England Jobline to view professional jobs—it can be helpful to see what interests you now and plan ahead.

For pre-professional jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities, visit CareerLink and search for jobs outside of Simmons. These jobs are also in hard copy in the binders in Boston at the Student Information Center (P-212 suite, second floor, One Palace Road) and on the GSLIS announcements page. At GSLIS West, jobs are listed on the GSLIS West bulletin board and on the LISSA West web site, http://my.simmons.edu/elearning/.We strongly encourage you to get some library-related work experience while you are in the program—this is a great time to build up your resume before entering the profession.

Another career resource is the GSLIS Mentoring Program. In Boston at the Student Resource Center (outside of P-212, second floor student lounge, One Palace Road) you will find a binder listing names of potential mentors. Contact a mentor directly if you are interested in their particular job and would like their course and career planning advice. Direct any questions about the Mentoring Program to Assistant Dean Em Claire Knowles, knowles@simmons.edu.

Other job resources can be found in the Career Resource Library and the Career Education Center, both located in P-304 on the third floor of One Palace Road.

Get a writing credit to add to your portfolio! Submit an article to the InfoLink, the GSLIS community newsletter. Check out the InfoLink archives and the current issue.
