The Archives Management Certificate Program is specifically designed for students who have already earned a Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school.
Program Requirements: 4-5 courses (15 credits). The exact number of courses will be determined by the program director depending on applicant's prior Masters level coursework:
Archives Management Courses:
Core Courses
LIS 438 - Introduction to Archival Methods and Services (internship required)
LIS 440 - Archival Access and Use (internship required)
LIS 456 - Managing Records in Electronic Environments (internship required)
One of the following preservation courses:
LIS 439: Preservation Management for Libraries and Archives
LIS 444: Archiving and Preserving Digital Media
One of the following archives electives:
LIS 441 - Appraisal of Archives and Manuscripts
LIS 442 - Establishing Archives and Manuscripts Programs
LIS 443 - Archives, History and Collective Memory
LIS 471 - Photographic Archives and Visual Information
Students will register as non-degree students through AARC and will be eligible for financial aid if they take two courses in a semester.
