Academics

In November 2008, the Simmons GSLIS faculty voted in a new mission statement: to provide students with an educational foundation that addresses the theories, history, ethics, values and technologies associated with the information professions and that prepares students to manage and lead information organizations at all levels, from the local to the global, and to meet the challenges of the future.

What does this mean to you as a student? Some students already know what they want when they arrive on campus; some actively seek guidance from their professors, their peers, and whatever other resources they can get their hands on. (We are information seekers, after all.) If you already know what you want, be sure to meet with your faculty advisor and fill out your Advising Statement so you can get started right away. In these pages, we've provided specific requirements for each of our academic programs. Any questions can be directed to gslishelp@simmons.edu.
