SHEILA INTNER

Sheila IntnerProfessor Emerita

Professor Intner consults in collection development and presents workshops in the United States and abroad. Intner was awarded a Fulbright to Israel and the Republic of Georgia. Intner recently presented a paper at the Director's Tribune on the Public Library in the 21st Century in China. Her latest book is about cataloging in special libraries and she is working on a third edition of her cataloging textbook. She writes a column for Technicalities, a newsletter for librarians and database managers and a scholarly book series titled Frontiers of Access to Library Materials. She serves on the editorial boards of two scholarly journals and reviews manuscripts for several publishing houses. Intner is very active in the American Library Association governing council, the education committee, Spectrum Initiative, presidential advisory committee on Weblink Guidelines, and the development of a list of core competencies for the profession. In addition, Intner was a founding member of the academic relationship the GSLIS has with Mount Holyoke College. She recently served as president of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services, a division of ALA.

Served as a member of the GSLIS Faculty Committee on Rank, Tenure and Appointments.

Served as ALISE Liaison for Simmons College GSLIS.

Served as Director-designate of GSLIS Program in Western Massachusetts at Mount Holyoke College. Led 6 focus group interviews at Forbes Library, Northampton, MA, Springfield City Library, Springfield, MA, and Hartford Public Library, Hartford, CT. Prepared plan for the GSLIS Program for the faculty.
