Public Policy

The Master in Public Policy at Simmons College provides an interdisciplinary understanding of societal problems and their potential solutions. Simmons's focus on liberal arts and the professions makes its MPP program unique. Drawing on expertise and courses in the School of Management, College of Arts and Sciences, Library Sciences, Social Work, and Nursing and Health Studies, the MPP provides an integrated focus on public policy in the United States. Upon completing their MPP at Simmons, students will have a command of public policy analysis and will have an applied understanding of the various institutional contexts in which public policy is developed and implemented. The MPP degree is increasingly necessary for many careers: policy analyst for government or the private sector; public policy creation and implementation; legislative aide to national, state and local policymakers; budget analyst; research associate at think tanks and policy institutes; policy specialist at advocacy organizations and direct services agencies. Additionally, the Simmons MPP program provides preparation for law school and Ph.D. programs in public policy, political science, economics, and sociology.
