The semester has begun!

Dalek of the Day

Where is winter? I'm not enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. :(

I am enjoying the semester so far, though.

Pretty much everybody I got to know in last semester's gender studies seminar is also in my cultural studies seminar, and I think we'll have some great discussions in that class. My class on the US health system is a 300 level/500 level course, and most of the other students are undergrads. It seems like everyone in the class comes from a diverse array of methodological backgrounds: nursing, public health, sociology, biology, etc.

As I get better and better acquainted with Simmons, I've found the same kind of collaborative atmosphere that I loved about Wellesley. Both in and outside of class, I really feel like a member of a community. Certainly part of that is unique to my major--we're a small and cohesive cohort--but the spirit of solidarity and collaboration seems to permeate the school.

Of course I'm still blogging away on Bitch (I'm supposed to be writing a post right this minute!) and I might still get something out of that prospective job I mentioned in my last post. I had a favorable interview, but for logistical reasons an offer may or may not be forthcoming. Keep wishing me luck with that.

Also as I mentioned before, I got a cat. I couldn't have handled another bird, at least so soon after Jupiter, and cats are more low-maintenance anyway.
