Beginning Teacher Center
In 1999, Simmons College, in collaboration with Teachers21, formed the Beginning Teacher Center (BTC) to professionalize teacher education. The BTC's goals are to increase retention of new teachers; to improve the skills and confidence of beginning teachers with relevant pre-service curriculum and in-service support; to build dialogue among school systems, state agencies, and colleges to ensure responsive training techniques; and to serve as a model to other colleges and school systems seeking quality curricula.
