Duties Include:
Assist the Chief, Legal Division Affairs in the implementation of the communications strategy for the Legal Division and support of the activities of the Legal Division Affairs COE. Utilize existing and new communications channels to create shared understanding of the Legal Divisions strategic priorities and operating principles, while reinforcing the overall vision and mission of the Company. Manage the Legal Division intranet site. Monitor the site for any content or technology issues. Create and post editorial content to ensure timely and accurate information. Work with outside web partner(s) and internal resources, provide leadership on projects related to site upgrades and technology issues. Work with internal clients on site requests. Market the site to internal audiences. Work with outside writer to produce monthly Legal Division newsletter, WaveLength. Includes researching stories, internal coordination, editing, production and distribution. Draft variety of communications as required including Division emails, slide presentations and speaking points/speeches. Provide communications support for Legal Division Diversity Steering Committee and the Pro Bono Advisory Committee. Work closely with Chief to plan and manage logistics for Division events such as town hall meetings, offsite leadership team meetings.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a B.S. or B.A. in English or Communications and at least 10 years experience in developing and managing a broad range of communications projects within a corporation. Global experience a plus. Understanding of how to effectively use communications to influence internal and external audiences. Must write well. Experience with intra or internets, event management expertise and overall broad knowledge of communications tools including PowerPoint presentations. Detail oriented with commitment to consistently produce superior results; able to prioritize and manage numerous projects at the same time. Able to work effectively across functions, levels and geographies; strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Self-motivated with a sense of urgency to meet commitments and deliver results within a time frame. Good business, technical and financial judgment. Level of position to be determined on the basis of the amount and type of experience possessed by the incumbent.

Job Description:
For over thirty years, the women of New Words Bookstore and the Center for New Words (CNW) have promoted the exchange of ideas and opinions among generations of women who embrace feminist thought and perspectives. First as a women's bookstore, then as a nonprofit organization, New Words has provided events and places for women's words to flourish. CNW's next phase of growth and renewal requires a dynamic leader with the experience and perspective to serve CNW as Executive Director.
Duties Include:
In partnership with the Board of Directors and staff, the Executive Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and effective management of all aspects of the organization and for fundraising growth and development, expanding the programs, building a strong infrastructure, increasing public presence, and creating community involvement to further CNW's mission. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and strategic thinker who can sustain current strengths while identifying and forging new opportunities.
Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for defining and executing strategic and operating plans for CNW as it moves to a new dynamic growth stage. The Executive Director will ensure the organization's programmatic success, philanthropic support and fiscal stability, effective management, recruitment and retention of employees and volunteers, and exploration of co-sponsorships and collaborations. The popularity and success of the current portfolio of branded programs opens avenues for continued growth and development, further development of the long-range vision, and renewed strategic planning. The Executive Director will oversee an organization with a current annual budget of over $250,000 and will be expected to grow CNW's budget, reach, and influence considerably. Responsible for all aspects of the organization, the Executive Director will report to a Board of Directors, which includes the founders, and supervise a Program Director, part-time Administrative Assistant and part-time Events Coordinator.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record of three to five years successfully leading/managing a nonprofit or business of similar size, complexity, and trajectory; or an up-and-comer with innate sense of good program management and three or more years of direct experience doing comparable work. The Executive Director will be an innovative and strategic thinker who can nurture current CNW strengths and successes while identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities. Humor, curiosity, energy, compassion and the ability to motivate others to achieve their personal best are essential. The Executive Director must also possess a high degree of political acumen and be an experienced and strategic collaborator in developing, evaluating, and delivering innovative, meaningful programs; demonstrated passion and respect for feminism's role in the public conversation, and an equal passion for the power of progressive and marginalized women's words ideas, writings, and opinions.
