Job Description:
Univision Communications Inc. ("Univision") is the leading Spanish-language media company in the United States. Their powerhouse portfolio includes Television, Radio, Music and Internet offerings that entertain and inform more Hispanics each day than any other media company in the country. The television operations include the Univision Network, TeleFutura Network, Galavisión and Univision and TeleFutura Television Groups. Univision also owns and operates Univision Radio, Univision Music Group and Univision Online. Univision holds a 50% interest in TuTv, a joint venture formed to broadcast Televisa's pay television channels in the U.S., and a non-voting minority interest in Entravision Communications Corporation, a public Spanish-language media company.
Duties Include:
The Vice President, Corporate Communications is responsible for developing and directing communications programs to enhance the company's position with its relevant external and internal publics. This includes advising senior management on the implications of decisions and events; recommending programs to maintain and improve Univision's image among business partners, customers and the general public; and anticipating and handling current and emerging issues.
The Vice President, Corporate Communications will help develop and implement communications plans relative to strategic direction and positioning of the company to expand the visibility of Univision as a leading provider of news, information and cultural programming worldwide. The Vice President, Corporate Communications will also work with, direct and select outside public relations organizations. He/she will represent the company in industry groups and with the public; and act as a spokesperson when necessary.
This individual is a business executive and a world-class communications professional, as well as a great people motivator and leader -- able to work collegially with others. He/she must have outstanding strategic planning skills, solid understanding of business relationships, and the knowledge, intellect and temperament to work effectively in a diverse and fast paced environment. A high degree of personal initiative and outstanding interpersonal, teaming, verbal and written communications skills are absolutes.
o Develop, implement and administer comprehensive, strategic communications and media relations plans, including direct working relationships with top-tier national print, electronic and broadcast media -- with business/financial, media trades and general consumer outlets. Oversee relationships with the press, and represent Univision, as needed, to outside parties.
o Advise Univision's CMO, CEO and senior management team and staff on all communications issues. Develop, coordinate and/or communicate Univision's position/response in any crisis and damage-control situations.
o Provide, as needed, communications counsel to the liaisons at Univision's programs and outlets and assure overall consistency of strategic direction, positioning and messaging for Univision as a whole, linking the communications efforts and facilitating an integrated approach to company-wide communications.
o Oversee a team that develops and communicates appropriate messages to the general public and the media. Responsible for the effective and efficient management of resources assigned to the communications function.
o Develop and implement effective Univision media relations, external, corporate brand identity and program, and promotion plans in support of company objectives. Responsible for communications activities in support of marketing by all Univision areas including coordinating projects and initiatives with marketing efforts to ensure consistency of messages.
o Act as a creative force and team member around special events, major industry occasions and other activities.
Requirements:
o Bachelor's degree required; a minimum of 10-12 years of public relations/ communications experience; fluency in Spanish is required.
o Proven leadership, supervisory and management skills; ability to work effectively within a team. Experience in organizational development and motivation.
o Experience in external communications program development and planning, messages and methods.
o Proven relationships with top-tier national media -- print and broadcast. Proven ability to develop new media relationships.
o Experience in issues/crises communications planning and implementation.
o Proven track record as both a high-level strategist and accomplished implementer in day to day as well as challenging situations.
o Consummate organizational savvy and negotiation skills, with the facility to interact and influence at the most senior levels of the organization. Executive presence and the ability to represent the company externally. Experience as a spokesperson.
o History of responding to rapidly changing conditions with agility and imagination, capitalizing on opportunities.

Since 1910, The House of
the Seven Gables Settlement Association (The
Gables) has provided residents of Salem and
visitors from around the world with a
well-preserved, nationally recognized
landmark campus that educates visitors about
early American architecture, Salem's maritime
history and the lives of the Turner and
Ingersoll families, and interprets the
literary legacy of Nathaniel Hawthorne, while
delivering community-based services to local
families. The Gables seeks an
energetic and motivated Executive Director
who will steward its nationally significant
cultural resources through sensitive
conservation, preservation, and restoration,
protecting nine buildings and collections
that span more than three centuries while
also leading the organization so that it
maximizes its considerable resources,
articulates its vision and realizes its broad
potential. The next Executive Director will
be an entrepreneurial, proactive,
collaborative and charismatic leader capable
of shepherding an enthusiastic, talented, and
active staff and board while building
internal capacity and further developing an
already well-regarded local non-profit with
many growth opportunities available. The
ideal candidate will be results-oriented and
have experience in managing a museum and/or
historical site and be dedicated to expanding
the reach and financial stability of a unique
non-profit and national treasure.
Duties Include:
Working closely with the Board
of Trustees and the Directors, the Executive
Director will have overall responsibility for
the strategic, programmatic, financial, and
management operations of the organization.
The Executive Director will ensure the fiscal
stability, philanthropic support and the
programmatic success, as well as managing the
organization effectively, and for recruiting
and retaining motivated employees and
volunteers. The House of the Seven Gables is
a strong, internationally recognized brand
and the Executive Director will work with
board and staff to leverage and continue to
strengthen that brand, identity, and
reputation throughout the United States and
across the globe. S/he will refine and
develop policies and set organizational
direction that will continue to strengthen
and maintain programs and services, will
nurture existing relationships while building
new ones, and will manage the organization's
finances, ensuring fiscal responsibility and
continued growth. The Executive Director
reports to the Board of Trustees and has
seven direct reports and a staff of 48
full-time equivalent employees and 34
seasonal employees. The Gables operates on a
budget of $2.18 million annually and its
endowment is $2 million.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will be a proven
leader who can balance the demands of a
mission that emphasizes preservation,
education, and service to the community while
inspiring a high degree of trust and
confidence by remaining personable,
diplomatic, visionary and passionate.
S/he
will have a proven track record of 10 to 15
years successfully managing a nonprofit
and/or business of similar size, complexity,
and trajectory; or an up-and-comer with
innate sense of strong management and
fundraising with five or more years of direct
experience doing comparable work.
Respected
and enterprising, the ideal candidate will be
an innovative and strategic thinker who can
nurture current partnerships while
identifying and forging new collaborations,
capitalizing on unrealized opportunities, and
translating an ambitious vision into
realistic strategies and programs, supportive
management, and well and diversely-funded
operations.
S/he will play a vital role in
leading the organization's activities:
managing operations, fundraising,
development, connecting the organization to
its communities, attaining strategic goals,
and executing The Gables' vision to realize
its potential. The successful candidate will
participate actively in the community and
will be a spokesperson for The Gables.
Experience in a museum setting is strongly
preferred although experience as a curator or
preservationist is not necessary.
