» Master's in Communications Management Program Hosts 2008 Graduate Reception

This year MCM had an exceptional turnout at our graduate celebration Friday evening, May 16. Nearly all thirty graduates from spring 2008, MCM alumnae/i from summer and fall of 2007, and from January this year attended the reception with their spouses, parents, children and friends.

Following a cocktail hour and hors d'oeuvres, Program Director Joan Abrams thanked the families and partners for attending with their graduates. She noted how important the support from family and friends becomes in completing a Master's program, particularly when students begin their Applied Learning Project, which each student must finish to graduate. Abrams concluded her remarks with a champagne toast to the graduates and their many achievements during their time at Simmons.

She then presented two awards, the Bernstein Service Award, given for noteworthy contributions to the MCM program, and the Beltz Prize, awarded for academic achievement. This year Kristen Haack, Director of Graduate Admissions at Simmons, collected the Bernstein Service Award. Abrams thanked her for her continual effort and attention to the MCM program, which has steadily grown over the past year. Kimberly Lawrence, a spring graduate of MCM, took home the Beltz prize for her outstanding work in the program. Lawrence completed the program with exemplary marks.

The graduates and their guests were then escorted to the Linda K. Paresky Center where they joined graduates, faculty and staff from all of Simmons' Master's Programs for cocktails and appetizers at a reception hosted by CAS Dean Diane Raymond.
