The comprehensive Master of Arts in Spanish program meets the needs of students who are preparing for a doctoral degree, or simply furthering their knowledge in the subject area. Students sharpen their language skills and expand their knowledge of the literature, history, and culture of Spain and the Spanish-speaking world. The program offers a supportive, stimulating environment with small classes, faculty mentors, and a flexible curriculum that balances traditional literary studies with innovative approaches to contemporary social issues and cultures. Some students are recent undergraduates; others are experienced teachers or professionals. All share a love of Spanish language and literature, and a commitment to multicultural study.
The 32-credit Spanish program leads to a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree. Simmons also offers a dual-degree in Spanish and Education for students who wish to become licensed as an elementary, middle, or high school teacher.
