The Partnership
The purpose of this partnership is to support bilingual, bicultural education and build a bridge between teacher training and student education in the United States and Spain.

During the first year of this collaborative partnership, Unión de Cooperativas de Enseñanza de Trabajo Asociado de Madrid (UCETAM) will provide scholarships and airfare to Simmons students to work as English speaking interns in Madrid schools. Simmons will provide teacher training to Spanish teachers and match Boston area schools with schools in Madrid for long term partnerships.

Unión de Cooperativas de Enseñanza de Trabajo Asociado de Madrid is a collaborative of 85 charter schools in metropolitan Madrid. UCETAM, Simmons College's partner in the international practicum, will provide scholarships and airfare to all participants.

Artica School

Opening in September 2007, this state of the art charter school in Madrid will house 1,500 students--early learners through middle school. A theater, swimming pool, and beautiful library are all part of this model building. The Metro across the street whisks you downtown Madrid in fifteen minutes.

Gredos San Diego El Escorial
