Career opportunities for Simmons’s College of the Arts and Sciences (CAS) alumni are exceptionally bright, with an extremely high rate of successful job placements and fulfilling careers. Graduates of the Simmons education programs are among the best prepared and most sought after professionals in the field — typically nearly 100 percent of Simmons special education and general education students secure educational positions within three months of graduation.

Nationwide, intense competition for good teachers is already under way, with schools luring teachers from other states and districts with bonuses and higher pay. Government employment projections are extremely favorable too: According to the U.S. Department of Labor, special education employment will continue to increase rapidly through 2010, spurred by continued growth in the number of students needing services, legislation for individuals with disabilities, and educational reforms requiring higher standards for graduation.
