Heather Patenaude, Director of Financial Aid
Heather began her time at Simmons in 2003 as a Financial Aid Officer. Having worked in higher education since 1996, Heather previously served as a Financial Aid Officer at Boston College and an Assistant Director of Financial Aid at The George Washington University. Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from The George Washington University and an MBA in Non-Profit Management from Simmons School of Management. In her free time, Heather's artistic endeavors include painting and jewelry making. She also participates in both distance and obstacle races, completing her first half marathon in October of 2013.
Andrea Teague, Financial Aid Officer
Andrea joined the Simmons SFS team in July 2013. She works with students whose last names begin with A-E and acts as the liaison to Undergraduate Admissions. Prior to coming to Simmons, Andrea worked as a Student Affairs Advisor at Universal Technical Institute, where she started her career in higher education in 2011. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Arts in Gender and Cultural Studies from Simmons College. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys participating in obstacle races, watching Sons of Anarchy and Game of Thrones (even though they're scary and she has to cover her eyes), and engaging in political discussion with a few close friends she met while attending Simmons.
Amanda Galban, Financial Aid Officer
Amanda began her career in financial aid at MCPHS University, serving the MCP community for four years. During this time she developed her customer service skills and expanded her knowledge of all things financial aid. While at Simmons, she will be working with students whose last name begin with F-L and act as the liaison to the School of Management. Amanda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese from Bates College in Maine and plans to continue her personal education here at Simmons. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys pottery, gaming, and driving her 5-speed Mazda2 through the scenic northeast.
Leslie Czwakiel, Financial Aid Officer
Leslie came to Simmons in 2003. She works with students whose last names begin with the letters M - R and acts as the liaison to the School of Social Work. Other responsibilities include the processing of the Federal Direct Loans, coordinating the Post 9/11 Ch. 33 VA benefits and the Yellow Ribbon program and facilitating the exit interview process. Beginning her career in higher education in 1988, Leslie has served as a Teaching Assistant/Graduate Fellow at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA and as an Assistant Director of Financial Aid in Student Financial Services at Boston University Medical Campus. Leslie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from The Ohio State University and an MBA with a concentration in Management Information Systems from Gonzaga University. In her free time, Leslie spends time with her family and hikes in the Blue Hills. Leslie is originally from the Republic of Panama and is fluent in Spanish.
Michael Gearan, Financial Aid Officer
Michael came to Simmons in 2013 from Berklee College of Music where he served as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid counseling students and coordinating Veterans Benefits. At Simmons, he works with the caseload S - Z, and serves as the liaison to the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences. Michael received his B.A. in English from Fairfield University and his Masters in Higher Education from Northeastern University.
Mehrdad Kermani, Financial Aid Officer
Mehrdad joined Simmons in 2004, serving as the liaison to the Office of Advancement and Donor Relations and the financial aid officer for students with last names A - E. In summer 2013, Mehrdad became the official financial aid officer for the new online Nursing@Simmons Family Nurse Practitioner program. Prior to Simmons, Mehrdad worked at Emerson College as a Financial Aid Advisor. As an avid fan of literature, he has earned two degrees in English: Bachelor of Arts from U.C. Irvine and Master of Arts from Simmons College. In his spare time, he continues to work on his literary studies, focusing on Shakespeare, the Renaissance, and Victorian literature.
