Join Simmons College, ALPFA, and Salem State University for "A Call to Action," a healthcare keynote address by Dr. Antonia Novello, 14th Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service. This event is part of week-long health care series. Dr. Novello will address the application of Intersectional Theory by stakeholders in healthcare and the public health community and how it can be leveraged to improve the issues facing the Latino population, with an emphasis on women's health.
Intersectional Theory is the study of how overlapping or intersecting social identities, particularly minority identities, relate to systems and structures of oppression or discrimination. It explores the limitations of singular-axis solutions to solve issues of people with multiple intersecting identities.
