POSTPONED, New Date TBA: Lessons from the Boston Public Library

A SLIS Public Lecture with Associate Prof. Martha Mahard

Starts:  11/17/2015
Ends: 11/17/2015
Location: Kotzen Meeting Room, Lefavour Building, Simmons College, Boston, MA

Martha Mahard is currently overseeing a major inventory project in the Print Department at the Boston Public Library. The inventory project is the result of a year-long study she conducted and a crisis surrounding two mis-filed prints. With no known model on which to base model such an inventory, Mahard and a team of Simmons interns are gathering data on a collection of prints which spans the entire history of printmaking - both fine art and reproductive prints - as well as posters, postcards and ephemera. In her talk, Mahard will describe some of the problems encountered during her initial survey and the actual implementation of the inventory project.
