Ends: 2/18/2015 5:00 PM
Location: Linda K Paresky Conference Center

The health of the world’s modern economy is built upon the production and consumption of goods and services. However, the world’s current rate consumption is a major cause of global environmental deterioration, the over-exploitation of both renewable and non-renewable resources, and the exploitation of people and their lands, especially in developing countries. So, herein is the challenge. Is it possible to reconcile or change our patterns of consumption given a finite capacity of resources, and at the same time respect human rights? Is consumption compatible with sustainability and social justice?

In culmination of this year's Simmons World Challenge, students will present their actionable solutions to these problems of Consumption, Sustainability, & Social Justice.
