Refresh your MBA skills by joining us for this interactive and live case study with CEO Ellen Zane. Professor Cynthia Ingols will introduce a new SOM case study about how Zane led transformational change at the medical center. Zane will add stories about how she acquired the skills to undertake such a complex task; how she began the process at the medical center; the significant milestones in the transformational process; and key strategies she is using to sustain change at Tufts-NEMC. Engage with Zane and others about the challenging role of women as turn-around leaders and the special approaches and skills women bring to this work.
The writing of the case was made possible by a grant from The Patrina Foundation and was written by Cynthia Ingols and Lisa Brem '97.

Are you interested in serving on the Alumnae Association Board?
The Simmons School of Management Alumnae Association (SOMAA) is seeking candidates for open positions on the SOMAA Board of Directors. SOMAA Board members are elected to an initial two-year term. At the end of her second year of service, a Board member may choose to remain on the Board for up to four years.
Open Positions:
There are currently three open Chair positions. All Chair positions are voting members of the Board.
Fundraising and Development Chair: This position works to spearhead the Board’s fundraising efforts in collaboration with the School of Management’s Office of Development and Alumnae Relations (ODAR).
Membership Chair: This position oversees all SOMAA membership activities, including but not limited to maintaining membership records, recruiting new members and retaining existing members. This is a newly created Board position.
Networking and Career Services Chair: This position is responsible for activities designed to bring alumnae together in social, networking, or personal development programs. This position is also responsible for advocating for programs and activities that support alumnae career aspirations.
The Board is also recruiting for Associate Board Members. Associate members provide the Board with support and a broader representation of the alumnae community. The SOM Alumnae Association provides training and development opportunities to position Associate members for Chair positions. Associate Members are non-voting members of the Board.

General Board Member Responsibilities:
• Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings (four in person Board meetings and seven phone meetings) and the annual Board retreat
• Be fully conversant in the mission, goals, policies and current activities of the Board; be capable of describing this to other SOM alumnae
• Encourage alumnae participation in SOMAA and SOM alumnae events
• Encourage SOM alumnae to become professional members of the SOMAA and to donate to the SOM Annual Fund
• Contribute to the SOM Annual Fund at or above the Leadership level
• Serve on 1-2 standing Board committees
• Actively participate in SOM and SOMAA activities
• Assist in the documentation of SOMAA policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications for All Board Members:
• Demonstrated commitment to SOM
• Interest in contributing to the alumnae community
• Leadership abilities
• Ability to think strategically
• Team player who would complement the diversity and capabilities of current Board make-up
• Commitment to give required time
• Initiative and ability to make an impact in the position
• Prior board experience (This is not required for Associate Board Members.)
