Join Professor Teresa Nelson at the SOM for the Leading Women Entrepreneurship Series this Spring, featuring four prominent business executives on the topic of starting and growing a business. Events take place on four consecutive Saturdays this March. SOM's former Entrepreneur-in-Residence Julie LeMoine will kick off the series, speaking on "Building a Start-Up: The Process of New Venture Creation, with Comments on High Technology." Susan Murcott will lead a discussion on "Global Social Entrepreneurship: Bringing Clean Drinking Water Solutions to the Developing World" and current SOM Entrepreneur-in-Residence Paige Arnof-Fenn will speak on "The Entrepreneur's Life: Building a Great Brand on a Shoestring Budget." Gretchen Fox '87 will close the series with "A Twenty Year Perspective on Founding and Growing a Firm." This entrepreneurship series is part of Simmons’ commitment to excellence in educating women entrepreneurs by teaching, researching, and convening. We acknowledge and thank the Will J. Final reminder: Register today for the SOM Alumnae Association's Spring Speaker Series event. Refresh your MBA skills by joining us for this interactive and live case study with CEO Ellen Zane. Professor Cynthia Ingols will introduce a new SOM case study about how Zane led transformational change at the medical center. Zane will add stories about how she acquired the skills to undertake such a complex task; how she began the process at the medical center; the significant milestones in the transformational process; and key strategies she is using to sustain change at Tufts-NEMC. Engage with Zane and others about the challenging role of women as turn-around leaders and the special approaches and skills women bring to this work. Seating is limited, so register today. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Learn about opportunities to apply a new approach to workplace flexibility, based on Bailyn’s 15 years of ongoing research and experimentation in Fortune 500 companies.

• Wednesday, May 9, 2007 “Women at their Best: Authentically Engaging Strengths for Maximal Contributions” Laura Morgan Roberts, Ph.D. Learn from a new, strength-based lens for examining gender and diversity in organizations, and join a discussion drawn from research on how white women and women of color cultivate a deeper understanding of their “best-self” and engage their strengths to mobilize change, build relationships, and persist in the face of obstacles.

• Tuesday, June 19, 2007 “Optioning In vs. Opting Out” Mary Shapiro and Cynthia Ingols, Ph.D.
Hear findings from the recent SOM study of our 400 women who are not “opting out.” Research
indicates women are using workplace flexibility to opt into challenging jobs without sacrificing high salaries or career opportunities.
