Participants at Simmons Executive Education programs credit their Simmons experience with promotions, expanded roles, and increased opportunities. But we wanted to learn more, so we recently surveyed mid–to–senior level women about how they are applying this experience and how it benefits their organizations.
Women come to Simmons to develop strategies to improve team effectiveness, lead change, and build powerful personal brands for greater influence and career success. Here are some of our findings:
85% reported that their jobs had changed in some positive way, including greater authority, new job title, and more responsibility
“I used the negotiation frameworks I learned in It Pays to Ask: Negotiating for Leadership Success to obtain a salary increase and a new position.”
88% now contribute to their company at a higher level
“I am better prepared to lead organization–wide special initiatives because of my increased capacity to think and manage from a strategic perspective while ensuring that the necessary details are being addressed.”
97% reported that they learned valuable new work strategies and skills
“During a very challenging period of transformation at my former employer, I was able to use the “brand” skills I learned at Simmons and apply them directly to the situation. In particular, I crafted the kind of brief description of my skills and attributes that I was able to successfully use in building relationships with new leaders. These skills also proved useful as I searched for new employment, and were very useful in landing my new job.”
The insightful feedback to our survey tells us that our Executive Education programs are providing a powerful learning experience for mid–to–senior level women executives. The Simmons approach blends academic rigor and hands–on learning with thought–provoking discussion of real–world issues. It’s a formula that has worked to educate women for power and principled leadership for over 30 years.
