Residence Life Information

The Residence Campus offers an enriching living environment with many opportunities for you to meet new people and share exciting experiences. The Residence Campus boasts a beautiful quadrangle as well as the state of the art Holmes Sports Center, Bartol Dining Hall, and the Simmons College Health Center.

Housing Application
There is a $250.00 housing deposit requirement for your residence application to be complete. You should have included your housing deposit with the tuition deposit you send to the Undergraduate Admissions Office. The Office of Residence Life will not be able to consider your residence application until your housing deposit has been received by the Admission Office. If you did not submit your housing deposit with your admissions deposit, you may make your deposit here.

Once you have submitted your housing deposit, you should read the Undergraduate College Housing License agreement and complete the online housing application. The online housing application includes questions about your sleeping and study habits, how clean you keep your room, and what level of visitors you prefer in your room. It is important to be as honest as possible in your housing application in order to help the Office of Residence Life make a good roommate match. You will also be asked to indicate your hall preference and room type preference. Assignments are made on a space-available basis; the Office of Residence Life makes every attempt to honor your preferences.

On your housing application, you will also be asked to select your meal plan options. Please note that you are allowed to change your meal plan choice during the first two weeks of classes.

If you have a special request for housing that is based on medical needs please indicate that on your housing application and submit medical documentation to the Disability Services Office. Medical housing accommodations cannot be made without the proper documentation in the Disability Services Office.

Roommates
If you have a specific person with whom you would like to live, please make sure that both of you list each other as “requested roommates” on your application. The Office of Residence Life is not able to honor roommate requests if only one of the roommate pairs has made the request. If you have already submitted your application, but wish to ask for a specific roommate, please contact the Office of Residence Life at reslife@simmons.edu or by calling 617-521-1096.

Theme Housing: “Live with others who love what you love”
Simmons College will be offering three theme communities for its residents this year: the Culinary Floor, Boston Sports Floor, and the Wellness Community. The Boston Sports Floor and the Wellness Community will be open for incoming First Years.

For more information about these theme communities simply visit our Housing Selection website. Once on the Housing Selection website, visit the “Theme Communities” section or the “Wellness Cast & Crew.” We encourage everyone to be intentional about their decision to join these communities.

Boston Sports Floor (Simmons Hall 3rd floor):
Do you love the Patriots, Sox, Celtics or Bruins? Imagine living on a floor where you are surrounded by sports enthusiast like yourself. Celebrate your team’s victories all year long with your roommate and neighbors!

Wellness Community (South Hall):
South Hall is a community that supports and promotes a healthy, balanced lifestyle, an ongoing process that is different for each individual. If you are a non-smoker or non-drinker then South offers that healthy experience. South offers an active, fun and creative hall for those that want a quiet room, but a fun experience!

Microfridge Rentals
Many students choose to rent Microfridges in order to store snacks and other food items in their rooms. A MicroFridge is a combination refrigerator, freezer, and microwave, which students can rent for the academic year for $189.00. You can rent a MicroFridge by calling 1-800-637-7567 (option 3) or you can rent it online. Orders must be received by August 25, 2009; the MicroFridge will be delivered to your residence hall room on or around September 8, 2009.

We strongly suggest that you talk to your roommate prior to ordering the MicroFridge, to make sure that she has not also rented one. However, if both roommates accidentally order a MicroFridge, you can obtain a refund by calling 1- 800-637-7567.
