When I first found out that I would be leaving for Simmons College on Sept. 2nd, I was excited to have an extra week of summer. Right now, during my extra week of summer, I wish I were at Simmons instead of where I am! I cannot wait to see everyone from Orientation again and to meet new people. For once I want to make my bed! I cannot WAIT to start decorating my room!!
So, why Simmons? Well, to begin with I never imagined myself going to an all-girls college, but Simmons College is perfect for me. It’s in a city that could easily overwhelm and distract me but I have faith that Simmons small size as well as the Res. Campus’ isolation from the 'crazy life' will help me to stay on track. I love how the Residential Campus is set up with the little park area in the middle of the buildings. It’s almost like walking onto a rural campus. The location is perfect. I can walk to a number of different stores and restaurants, which is exactly what I wanted! It also helped that I have talked to a number of people about Simmons College that went there and do not work for Simmons and have never once heard a complaint. Also, I would never be a number at Simmons. Northeastern had my student ID number in front of my name, as though it meant more to them than my name. Simmons was never like that. Simmons also sent me the longest and most personal acceptance letter I have ever seen. It included all the extremely detailed reasons why Simmons accepted me. I remember reading about how my involvement in the 5th Grade Spectacular at my former elementary school for four years showed them determination and commitment to something that I was passionate about. They spoke about little minute details in my activity chart and my essay, proving to me that they did read every little bit of information that I had sent them.
Anyways, with these final days left before I leave, all I can think about is how much fun I’m going to have at Simmons and how much I will learn, grow and develop there. I am excited to say that the next time I will write in my Simmons Blog will be from the desk of my room at Simmons College!
