teresa http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/ 2006-05-04T14:35:00-05:00 last week http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2006/05/last_week.php It’s the last week of classes. I can’t beleive it’s over. Already. I wasw thinking about leaving my roomie, and I don’t want to. I can’t wait until next year. The weather is just starting to get nice, I was loving my classes… and now it’s time to pack up. I’m off to staples to but packing boxes. They are replacing the sidewalks next to the res campus, so Lauren and I are going to write our initials in it. We’ll be roomates forever that way.

WEEKEND http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2006/04/weekend_3.php
What a b-e-a-utiful weekend!

I went home with Anna-Ruth, and we went to Harkness Park in Waterford, CT. At this time of year, all the daffodils are blooming. It’s a family tradition to go and take pictures in the field of flowers, and one hugging this huge tree. I like having traditions like that. Spring is such a great time, and I love to be able to record that rebirth of lovely weather each year. This year, I get to add traditions for spending my spring in Boston. Today, Anna-Ruth and I will be going to Cambridge and Boston Common. We might have to make this a yearly thing!

opening day http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2006/04/opening_day_1.php Today is opening day for the Red Sox, and as a hardcore Yankees fan living in Boston, I should probably protect myself and act slightly enthused. I will, however, comment on the fact that today is a BEAUTIFUL day for baseball, and I am excited for the seasons to start. I just wish I didn’t have to work today… as I can predict that work will be slow, and the T will be very crowded, making for a long ride to and from work- inside, on a beautiful day. I’ll just take the long way there and spend some time walking in the sunshine, enjoying it while I can. Plus, tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer.

spring? http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2006/03/spring.php Spring feels like it is in the air… getting warmer, in the 50’s this week- lovely!

Fall 06 class sign ups are happening soon. I’m excited to pick out my new courses.

Adam Pascal is coming to Simmons (from RENT!). I am really looking forward to meeting him. Rent has been playing non-stop on my ipod this last week. (well, a toss up between Brahams and Rent)

Went to Newport, RI this weekend. It was beautiful. I am going again next weekend. It will be a little bit warmer, I’m guessing, and more fun to walk around.

back from break http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2006/03/back_from_break.php Washington D.C. was terrific. I would very much enjoy going again sometime when it is a little bit warmer. It was a lot of fun to walk around all the monuments and museums. My favorite was the postal museum- so many stamps!

Now it’s back to school, and time to start thinking about next semester.

Happy Day http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2006/02/happy_day.php It was my birthday last week. Great fun. I feel so old… time to go take out my teeth. School is great. I love this semester. I bought a new clock for my room, it’s beautiful. TJ Maxx special! I’m already thinking about next semester. This one is wonderful… so wonderful. Spring is coming, I can feel it. Soon I will be doing my work outside in Boston Common, people watching and studying under the sun. I can’t wait.

Spring break soon- I’m headed off to Washington D.C. First time! I am going to see ALL the sights. Very excited.

Second Semester http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2006/02/second_semester.php My second semester is going well. Busy, as usual, but good. Break was nice. Worked a lot, took a break to go to San Diego. It was beautiful. The weather is so gorgeous. I want to go back.

This is Alex watching a helicopter go by at sunset.

I’m hoping to go on a trip for spring break to either Florida, or back to San Diego. I went to the zoo. I think the zebras were my favorite. The hippos were hiding. Disappointing. But I learned that koalas spend about 80% of their lives sleeping… not such a bad deal!

sometimes you feel like a nut... http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2005/11/sometimes_you_f.php Life has been very busy. I feel like a squirrel, running around trying to get everything done before the snow begins to fly.

It’s finally Thanksgiving Break, and I feel as though I can relax for a bit. I’ve been having a lot of fun as well as working hard. I’ve been out to the movies a couple of times, went dancing with my room mate, got together with some friends from work. Life is stressful, but good. I’m going up to New Hampshire for Thanksgiving. I can’t wait.

October is over http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2005/11/october_is_over.php Halloween marked the end of October. I can’t believe that so much time has flown by. As I was walking to class today, I made a point to walk through all the leaves, making satifying crunching noises. Fall is so much fun. It makes me want to jump into piles and piles of leaves. Brings me back to being a young child, “helping” to rake all the leaves. Picking out a pumpking and a costume were my favorite. This year, I was able to go trick or treating again. I went as a chaperone for a group of kids, and it was hard work! I’m not used to running around from house to house. I was informed that the best way to get the most candy. I don’t remember ever running around, but I gave it a try. Here is me in my costume this year. “the blonde cowgirl”. I had more pictures, but I accidentally deleted all of them beore downloading them, and this is the only one that survived.

SNOW http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2005/10/snow.php Yesterday, it snowed. Before Halloween. I was at work and I glanced out the window. I had to do a double-take. Sure enough, flakes were falling. And tomorrow the forcast is for weather in the 60’s. That’s New England for you. If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute.

Rain went away http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2005/10/rain_went_away.php Today is finally sunny, after what seems like weeks upon weeks of rain. It’s very cold out, but at least the sun is shining. The temperature has dropped considerably. When my parents came up for parents weekend, they brought my winter coat, and I was tempted to wear it yesterday. Classes are going well, and I’m having lots of fun. Among all the hustle and bustle of work and school, I manage to take some breaks to sit down just to think…

pencils, newly-sharpened http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2005/10/pencils_newlysh_1.php Joe in You’ve Got Mail

“Don’t you love … [Boston] in the fall?

It makes me want to buy school supplies.

I would send you a bouqet of newly-sharpened pencils

if I knew your name and address. On the other hand,

this not knowing has its charms.”

IMG_1247.JPG

The fall weather made me think of school supplies. That and the exam I had this week. Regardless of the reason, I went out and bought good old fashioned pencils and sharpened them, thinking about my favorite movie.

With my new bouqet and my new fish, my room looks so decorated.

Weekend http://www.simmons.edu/enews/blogs05/teresa/archives/2005/10/weekend_1.php The weekend started out fairly miserable, but got increasingly better. I went to New Haven, CT to play a concert at Yale University. As I was getting ready to leave, I dropped my keys down the gap in front of the elevator! And I coudln’t get home in order to come back to Boston. So I was stranded in Connecticut, but I ended up spending the day picking rasberries and swinging on Alex’s tire swing.

IMG_0912.JPG

When I got back up to school, I spent the day moving into a new room. It looks great. I bought new curtains and brought some plants from home. It’s starting to feel really comfortable and I’m meeting lots of new people.
