Autumn
The weather is turning crisp. It’s what I call sweater season. Some leaves are starting to brown, but they are still mostly green. I love watching the leaves turn. I think it’s my favorite thing about New England. I went to get some pictures developed for my communicatoins class at CVS, and spent my hour waiting relaxing in the Church of Christ, Scientist courtyard. As I was sprawled out on the grass, I noticed how beautiful the buildings are. I find the architecture quite striking.

Super heroes
Tonight I went to eat dinner at the Cheescake Factory. The wait was about 25 minutes, so I figured I had some time to visit some friends.
After sitting in a massaage chair for a good ten minutes, I felt relaxed enough to go and eat dinner. I was so full on the delicious bread and then my three tacos that I coudln’t eat any cheesecake. I will save room next time, or so I always tell myself. I think I will have to go once just to eat the cheesecake. I never get to eat dessert if I go for dinner.

MFA
I was finally able to go to the MFA. The place is amazing. I can’t wait to go back. I’m really looking forward to seeing the ancient musical instrument exhibit. I spent a lot of time looking at documents and other historic writings.
Each room has its own unique flavor. It truly feels as though you are walking through a different world when going from the Asian to the Egyptian exhibits. I will also be going back to spend more time at the Ansel Adams display. The statues out in front are a lot of fun.

weekend
This weekend I went home. It was gorgeous outside. I went into my backyard to read. After a thunderous downpour last night, the sun was a welcomed surprise. Raindrops were still on the rose petals.
While I was sitting, a monarch butterfly came to rest on my butterfly bush. I ran to grab my camera, but she was gone when I came back. There were, however, numerous bumblebees collecting pollen.
Right when I put down my camera, a hummingbird came to the bush. Just as soon as it came, it vanished over the fence.

Visit
Today, my sister brought my nephew to the Boston Children’s Hospital. We played together on the quad until the sprinklers turned on, and then walked down to the Longwood area food court to have dinner. He is adorable. He really concentrates on facial features and mimics them.
I love to see him. Each time I hold him, he’s a bit heavier. He’s always growing and learning new things. Babies are so fascinating to watch. He was interested in staring up at the trees.

Library
I navigated the construction to reach the library this evening. The weather cooled down considerably, making the walk easier than previously this afternoon.
Today was a day of good news. I won tickets to the Boston Symphony Orchestra. I entered at the Art and Music Liason booth at the barbeque and student activities fair on Friday, and I won! I am so happy. I was planning on going to the concerts already, and now I can go using the Student BSO card. I’m looking forward to Mahler 6. It should be a powerful performance.

First Week
This week has flown by, a blur of unpacking, moving in, saying good-bye, buying books, and starting classes. I have been familiarizing myself with the area. I can now, with no problem, navigate to Staples, and come back to my dorm with bags from Bed Bath and Beyond, an ice cream, and a newspaper from the local gas station. The weather has been perfect for walking. I’ve enjoyed nice trips around the Fenway area and to the Prudential shopping center.
I’m so happy to be in city where I can go for a nice walk, flop down on the grass and soak up the sun. On my agenda for next week is a trip to the MFA for the Ansel Adams exhibit (free for students!).
