'ello from London!

October 19, 2005

As a first entry, I need to say WELCOME to my blog. :) I have been in London for three and a half weeks and I am having a fabulous time. I miss everyone at Simmons, in Boston, my family and my friends (obviously) but it isn't stopping me from enjoying England!

I am at the London School of Economics (LSE) but it isn't strictly economics (look into it if you are majoring in philosophy, history, environmental science, math, etc.)!! I am living in LSE housing about a ten minute walk from campus. It is near the theatre district and China town, so there are always a thousand things to do. I have a roommate and she is also American. Thankfully we get along really well. We also have our own bathroom and there is a kitchen next door.

Did I mention that there are guys here? Haha. One of the things I forgot coming here was that this school is co-ed. You all know what this is like, so I'm not going to get into it, but I felt it necessary to mention...

Classes and lectures began three weeks ago so I am trying to adjust to doing school work, having a social life and exploring the city. One of my courses had an 18 page reading list...no comment. The professors here almost all have Phd's and write numerous chapters, articles and books, so I guess you can say they know what they're talking about.

London is five hours ahead of eastern standard time, which is crazy! When you get up and get to class/work I am probably finishing up my classes and thinking about dinner. Anyway, I promise that the next entry will be cooler than this, but I wanted to try and answer some FAQ's first. Below you'll find what classes I'm taking and my address because I hope that if you care enough to read this that you'll care enough to send me mail! :)

Courses:
EH 101 – Internationalization of Economic Growth
EH 220 – Comparative Economic Development
PH 103 – Reason, Knowledge and Values: Into to Phil
GV 265 – States, Nations and Empires
