Thanksgiving break!

Well Thanksgiving break is over...It is sad but it is good to be back at school. And it is really hard to believe that I will be back home in 3 weeks! The first semester is practically over! I can't believe how fast everything is going by! But Thanksgiving break was awesome. It was so good to be home and able to sleep in my own bed, eat the best food ever, and shower without flip flops! But it was really cold in Minnesota compared to Boston! I had to bundle up with a hat, scarf, and 2 pairs of gloves and my winter jacket! But here I got back and didn't even need my jacket! It is like 40 degrees here! It's so nice! And it is supposed to stay that warm this week I think so that's nice. And it snowed when I was home too! Almost 4 inches or so I would say! And it actually stayed on the ground. But it was really pretty and made Christmas seem even closer!

I went to the mall while I was home and did a little Christmas shopping! And I picked out some stuff that I want too which is always fun! And I saw the movie RENT which was good, but of course not as good as the play! And I saw some of my friends and got caught up with them which was so nice to do. I actually was up for 24 hours on Wednesday because I had to wake up at 4:30 am to go to the airport and then I didn't go to bed till 4:30 am my time when I was home that night! I couldn't believe I stayed up that late, but I had to see my friends!

And Thanksgiving day was great, I saw my family and ate the best food. Maybe a little too much food! And some pie as well. We played games and sat by the fire. It was great. I love holidays. And I got to see my cats! I miss having them around.

Then today when I was flying back to Boston I got bumped up to first class! I couldn't believe it! They said they needed to put some families together so they took my seat and gave me a new one in first class! But it was a short flight because I had a layover and had to stop in Indiana and so the flight was only about an hour and 20 minutes for that flight, but it was still nice to be in first class for some time!

I should get going now, I am going to try and get to bed early tonight because I am really tired and have to wake up at 7 am, which I haven't done in a few days so am not used to it. But I'll write again later this week and talk more about how I only have a week and a half left of classes and then FINALS!!! Ahh! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and holiday break. Until then...xoxo Hannah :)

Best week ever!!!

Last night my friends Erika, Julia and I went to a Celtics basketball game!! We bought really cheap $10 tickets that are way up in the balcony seats but you could still see really well cause the Fleet center, now called the Garden, isn't that huge, so it wasn't bad. It was so much fun and we got nachos and everything! We ended up losing the game but it was still fun to go and see what they are like, and experience another part of Boston! I had never been to a Celtics game before, so it was a new experience for me, and I am so glad I went! I want to go again because it isn't that expensive and I had a blast, and also in January the Celtics are playing my home town's team, the Minnesota Timberwolves so I really want to go to that game! So we'll see! And then there was even more excitement at the game because during the half time they had the band "Click 5" sing their hit song "She's just the girl I'm looking for" and then after the game they played an entire concert for whoever could stay that had tickets for the seats around where they were set up, and we didn't have tickets right by them but the usher let us in with tickets that she found on the ground! So we got to go to a concert for free after the game! So it was like 2 shows in one night! It was pretty cool! I only knew one of their songs, but it was still fun. And we were super close cause there weren't that many people that stayed and it was in the stands. So I took some pictures of them playing, and of the game and put them at the end of my entry for you guys to see!

And I can't believe that in basically 5 days I am going home to Minnesota! I am soooooooooooo excited! I can't believe either that I've been here for almost 3 months now and haven't been home once! A lot of people at Simmons are from around the area so they are able to go home if they want, but being so far I don't have that luxury! But I like it at the same time cause I'm having a whole other experience, and if I feel like going to a place like home I can always go to my grandparents house! But I can't wait to go home cause I get to see everyone including some of my friends from back home, and Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! The food is AMAZING, I live for pumpkin pie! So I can't wait to be able to spend some time at home with my family and friends and eat some good food!! But it is really really cold and snowing right now in Minnesota and it's pretty warm here so that isn't going to be the greatest thing to go back to, but that's ok! I don't mind!

And last Sunday I did end up finally going to church! It was really nice cause I had been wanting to go since I got here basically, and I finally made it happen. It was interesting to see how similar it was to my own church back home, and the little differences too. I really liked almost everything about the church and the service, but the only bad thing was that the sermon was a little depressing so I hope next time I go it will be a little more upbeat! I would like to go this weekend because it is the Thanksgiving service and those are always nice to go to, but we'll see if I make it. The nice thing is it's really convenient to get to, and it's a very beautiful church! I took some pictures of the outside of the church as well, but the one of the front of the church has a big sun glaze in it but I put it up anywayz!

Well tonight is a busy night, I have lots of homework, and many things to do. It is the last of the Harvard Medical School biology lectures that I have been going to (for extra credit!) and so I have to do that, they are actually really interesting! And then we have floor snacks in our dorm for our floor and I'm bringing the treats this time! So I'll probably be up late doing homework tonight, but this weekend I'll hopefully get some sleep!

I better go and do some homework before dinner. Love to everyone back home and can't wait to see you! Until next time...xoxo --Hannah :)

Nursing liaison and no school Friday!

Today I went to my first nursing liaison meeting! It was really cool because a lot of the other members are seniors, so I got to hear a lot about what life is like for a senior nursing student, and all the classes they have to take. And we talked a lot about fundraising and we're going to be selling some really cool stuff, and as a member of the liaison I don't have to pay extra! So I'm excited about that! And it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun, and I'm going to meet a lot of people from the nursing program so that's good. And we even have "Teas" like a Fall Tea and a Winter Tea, and it's for all the nursing students and there's food and stuff like that! So I'm glad that I decided to get involved.

This week we don't have school on Friday because it is Veteran's Day so that is awesome! It's going to be a nice relaxing weekend! I can get some studying done, cause a lot of people are going home since a lot of people are from around here. But there are some people that are staying that I'm going to go out with on Thursday and Friday, and hopefully I'm going to finally make it to church on Sunday! So I'm excited about that. I'll write more about it later if I do end up going!

And today I got a little care package from my Nana with a beautiful red scarf she made me! That was very exciting! It is so pretty and it's going to be nice to have now since it is getting cold out! Especially cause it gets really windy here!

I have to go do a little more homework now before watching America's Next Top Model with the girls! Until next time! xoxo -Hannah :)

Halloween and new minifridge!!

Happy Halloween! Monday was Halloween and it was definitely weird not to be at home for a holiday! This isn't as big of a holiday as Thanksgiving or Christmas, but my family still had rituals like giving out candy, or going trick or treating and so not doing that here is kinda weird. It didn't feel as much as Halloween as if I was home, but at least I'm not eating as much candy!! The dorms are all decorated too and they had a lot of fun activities this weekend to celebrate so that was cool. They even had scary stories and had little kids from the neighborhood come to the dorms and trick or treat!

And also this week I got a minifridge!!! I was soooooo excited! My roommates and I didn't order one in the beginning of the year because we weren't sure we wanted to spend $200 for it if we weren't going to need it, and it has been okay using the communal fridge on our floor but now since I have it in my room right next to my desk it is soooo much more convenient! And it's always fun getting a new addition to the room to spice things up! haha you never thought getting a fridge would be so exciting did you? It was really cool though because some other girls in our dorm were selling the fridge because they got a bigger one, but I don't need a big one, and this one is the perfect size for me! And it was really cheap too so I was so excited to get it! And of course I added a couple pictures of it so you can see how perfectly it fits between the wall and the desk, and how we had to put our huge lamp on top of the fridge to fit it!! But it works really well!

This week was another crazy busy week; today I had two quizzes and a test! But I think I did really well on all of them so that is a weight off my shoulders, and it was also the last Spanish test I have until the final so that is exciting! I can't believe how fast school is going by! I only have a couple more weeks of school before Thanksgiving break and then after that there are only a couple more weeks until the first semester is already over! And I am signing up for my next semester's classes on Friday night so wish me luck in getting what I want!! And on Friday I have another big biology test so that adds to this week's craziness, but after this week I only have one more test until Thanksgiving break so that will be nice.
Oh and this weekend I lost my cell phone which is the worst thing that can happen while you are away at college! My cell phone is the only way I communicate with everyone I know, especially my family back home, and I was freaking out because I didn't know what to do! So my friends helped me find the nearest Sprint store and luckily I had insurance on my old phone and got a new one for only $50, and it was sent to me in like 2 days which is really fast! So now I have a new phone, and it is almost the same as my old one, a little different, so that kinda sucks cause I just want my old phone back, but at least I got a new one! Now I have to build my phone book up again!
And I also got a wonderful care package this week with some new clothes from my mom!! I was so excited! So I attached some pictures of those as well for everyone to see! So enjoy! I must go now and study for biology! xoxo -Hannah :)

This is my new green sweater! Isn't it adorable? It will keep me warm on those cold windy New England days!

And this is a gorgeous very soft brown shirt also from my mom!
