Signing up for spring classes-already?

It is the middle of the semester right now and most people are going through midterms, but surprisingly I don't have any! I couldn't believe it! I have a lot of tests of course, but no actual midterms that test you on what you have learned so far the whole half of the semester! So I was very excited about that. And then the other big part of being half way done with the first semester, is registering for second semester spring classes! I feel like I just got here and am just getting used to my classes and already I have to sign up for my new ones! It is also weird to think about having all new classes next semester because in high school I had pretty much the same classes all year round and now I have no classes that stay the same! But then at least you don't get bored with the class, which is what happened in high school. So I think I will like having new classes. But then you also have to buy all new books which is sometimes stressful, but the good thing is that you can sell all your old books back to the bookstore for half price (even if you bought them somewhere else!). And that will help pay for the new ones. So I found out what day and time I am able to start registering for classes so I'm meeting with my advisor to talk about everything and go over some times for the different classes first, so that when it comes time to register (which is only like a week away!) I am all ready to just type everything into the computer and hopefully get the classes I want! So it is very exciting but also kind of nerve racking at the same time.

Well last Friday I finally went out clubbing (to a dance club) in Boston! I have been wanting to ever since I got here in September, but the club scene is very different from Minneapolis! In Minneapolis there are tons of 18+ clubs that are cheap and easy to go to, but here in the big city of Boston, a lot of the clubs are 19+, which I find a very weird number. Maybe they are trying to keep out the high school kids, but still a random number if you ask me! So a lot of the clubs around Simmons, or the ones we wanted to go to are 19+, and then the ones that are 18+ are really expensive. But finally on Friday I gave in and paid the $15 (and that was with a $5 off coupon!) to go dancing. But it was definitely worth it. I had a lot of fun and they played pretty good music. The club wasn't that different from the ones that I used to go to at home though, so I was kind of surprised at that. But one cool thing that they had that they definitely don't have in Minneapolis, is guys that dance on speakers with their shirts off! That was interesting! Fun to see though cause they weren't too bad looking and they could dance pretty well! And then the other cool thing that was different from the other clubs I have been to was that they had free airbrush tattoos! How cool is that! So my friends and I all got them. And I even uploaded a picture of mine so that you guys can see it! It is a fairy on my shoulder!! I was very excited about that.

And this weekend is Halloween weekend and I really want to find a costume to wear, but I don't want to spend a lot of money, so I'm trying to find some good thrift stores around Boston where I could possibly find something to make a costume out of. I have found a lot of used clothing stores which are really neat, but nothing has caught my eye for my costume yet. And I only have a few more days to find one! Plus it is so cold out, especially at night, so that limits my choices! Hopefully I will find one soon so I don't have to worry about it this weekend, but who knows!

Also, I'm hoping the weather gets a little better, today wasn't so bad, a bit chilly, but nothing compared to yesterday where we got horrible horrible rain and wind from the hurricane! Apparently they call that a "Nor'easter" here, and being from Minnesota, I have never heard of such a thing, nor experienced any hurricane effects! So that was interesting, not fun to have to walk to class in, but at least I had a rain coat! Well I must go now, a bunch of girls are coming over to watch "America's Next Top Model" again! And then after that we have the first "Morse Hall Tea", which I'm not exactly sure about, they advertised it as pumpkin painting and tea so we'll see what that's like! Until the next time...Happy Halloween! -Hannah :)

Lots of studying, a little homesick

Well I had two tests on Monday, the first time so far having two tests on the same day, and it was hard! It was hard to study for both of them and try and get everything memorized, but one of the subjects I know better than the other so I studied the one I didn't know a little more, and hopefully I will do okay! And then I already have another test next week! So I don't get much of a break from studying, and then the week after that I have another test as well! That's college for you I guess! But they have a lot of support here for you which is great because Chemistry is getting hard now and I'm thinking about getting a tutor because they are free and you can meet with them one on one to talk about anything you are having problems with, so that will be good.

This weekend is family weekend. The school has a bunch of planned activities for families to do together which is a nice thing for the families to have, especially if they live close by. The parents are even allowed to attend their daughter's classes if they want so that is cool too! But I live pretty far away so my family isn't going to be coming in, which I'm kind of sad about but it's okay because I'm going to be able to go visit my grandparents again for part of the weekend which is another part of my family! So that will be nice, some relaxing and home cooking again! I will have to study while I'm there too, but it will still be a little break.

I'm starting to get the hang of the "T" now, meaning the subway, it is really easy if you have a map of where it goes in front of you, so I just carry one around and I always know where I'm going! But I feel like a tourist or something sometimes, like looking at my map! But it's ok, not everyone that lives in Boston knows the system!

And this week I have been feeling a little homesick, I think just because it has been a month and a half almost already and I'm starting to miss my family, and Minneapolis/Minnesota! But it's only about a month until Thanksgiving, so I'm really excited about that! But it is weird that I only have about 2 months more of Biology because that is just a one semester class! And it is going to be weird to be done with it, but then I'm going to take Anatomy and Physiology and then in another year I'll have to take Microbiology probably, so I'm not completely done!

Well I must be off to do some chemistry homework and then some girls and I are going to get together and watch "America's Next Top Model"!! Until next time...Hannah :)

Long weekend in New York!

This weekend was Columbus Day so we got 2 days off of school meaning we had a 4 day weekend!!!! It was weird cause in Minnesota we don't get those days off so I was really excited! Going to school in the East Coast is so awesome because you get all these extra days off! haha But it was good cause I went to New York again to visit my cousin Kaitlin and I got to see her apartment, and meet her friends, and her kitty! And I miss my kitties a lot so that was fun to see a cat for once! And she got to show me around her neighborhood and around New York which is always a blast! And I took a couple pictures of my cousin Kaitlin that I put in my entry too!

I took the Greyhound bus which was a good time. On the way back we got to watch a movie which was a nice way to pass the time, and it didn't seem too long, especially when you have an IPOD! I was so glad I had my IPOD then! It made it so much better! And in New York we saw some movies because it was really icky and raining out most of the time :( But then we also went shopping which was really fun! And just walked around and ate a lot of good food! But it is really expensive! I'm glad I'm not going to college there because almost everything is so much more expensive than here and I just wouldn't be able to afford it! But it was a great long weekend, and I got to relax and catch up on some sleep!

Well we got a new beautiful colorful rug for our room which I put pictures of at the end of my entry, and I love it! I bought it last week at Bed, Bath and Beyond which is only like 2 blocks from the residence campus! So convenient! And it makes our room look so much homier and cozier! I love it. And it wasn't too expensive either!

Oh and I started going to a great chiropractor that isn't too far from Simmons which is already starting to help me! I am so excited about it, and am so glad that I found one here in the Boston area!

This week is going to be very busy with studying because I have a quiz on Friday and 2 tests on Monday! So this weekend I'm going to be studying a lot and getting some sleep, and I'm also going to try to go to church on Sunday for the first time since being here which hopefully will be fun! And I'm going to try to stay warm because it is cold and icky here! Its been raining and drizzling out lately, and it is windy windy windy! Minnesota was always really cold, but never windy like this! So it will be interesting to see how the rest of the fall and winter go, and how they compare to Minnesota!

I must be off now to go take a shower and then its bed time! I have my 8:30 am chemistry lab tomorrow but I'm waking up a little early to go get breakfast in the cafeteria which is always fun cause I can get cereal and fresh warm muffins! Enjoy the pictures! xoxo, Hannah :)

Where are all the boys?? and pictures of my dorm room!

Well the Red Sox didn't win against the Yankees enough to beat them out of the running, but they did make it into the playoffs with the wild card, so that is good news! And on Saturday when I was walking by Fenway Park (which is really close to Simmons!!), I was walking down this street that is mainly for the people who are going to the game, but it connects to another street which I was going to, and all of a sudden I see David Wells - the Red Sox pitcher - standing like 2 feet away from me! It was soooo cool! And all these people were getting his autograph and shaking his hand, but I just stood there and stared at him! So that was a very exciting moment this weekend!

On Saturday I auditioned for the MTV reality show "Real World" because they were holding auditions in Boston, among other cities, and I decided to go! Just to see what it would be like, and see if I would get on the show, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get on, but it was fun nonetheless and I can always try again when I'm older and out of college!

It started to get a little cold here last week, but then this week is supposed to get up to the 80's! And today was pretty sunny during the day and it was one of the most beautiful days ever! So who knows when it will actually get cold and stay cold, but I'm hoping not too soon!

And yes, where are all the boys? haha I thought that would be a funny title, since I now go to an all girls school for the first time in my life, and it is definitely different! I thought that I wouldn't notice the lack of boys in the classroom and around the campus, but I do! I actually don't notice them being gone in the classroom as much as just being around, but it is weird not having any boys at all. It is actually very funny because whenever you see boys you like almost want to take a double take and be like what? boys? hehe but I actually find not having boys in the classroom a huge benefit! I never have to worry about looking cute because there is a boy that I like in my class, and that is a big help when you have to wake up at 7 am for class! And you feel more empowered and able to speak your mind when it is all women. So it definitely has its ups and downs, but it's a good experience to have all in all.

I also took a bunch of pictures of my dorm room so that people can see how I decorated, and how a triple looks! It looks different in a picture obviously, but we're not cramped at all so it's not bad! So hope you enjoy the pictures, and I will write more later! This weekend I'm going to New York again to spend 4 days with my cousin because we have two days off for Columbus Day! How great is that! In Minnesota we definitely didn't get that day off! So I'm really excited about being able to see my cousin and spend 4 days with her in New York!!! I love being so close to New York and being able to take a greyhound bus for only like $30 roundtrip! How convenient! Okay, talk to y'all later! xoxo -Hannah :)

And finally, the best for last, these are our AWESOME WONDERFUL BEST IDEA EVER Christmas lights that make my life!! They make me soooo happy! Aren't they adorable?? They make our room feel so homey and cozy! But if anyone has any suggestions of how to keep them up that would be great cause they keep falling down! haha
