Become a Pen Pal with a Middle School Student!
Graduate students, Staff, Faculty and Alumni are invited to become a pen pal with a middle school student through the Promising Pals program at the James P. Timilty School in Roxbury, MA.
The program highlights literacy and mentoring, by giving students at the Timilty School an opportunity to correspond with professionals from Simmons and the surrounding community. Last year, over 250 participants from Simmons joined more than 750 professionals from greater Boston to be a part of this program.
Participation is easy!
- Be a pen pal with a 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student.
- Exchange at least 4 letters between December 2011 and May 2012.
- Read the assigned book and discuss it with your student in your letters.
- Meet your pal at the Pal Breakfast hosted by the Timilty School on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 7:30AM. (Attendance at this event is required, as the students are very disappointed not to have their pal attend the breakfast.)
If you have questions or would prefer to register by email, please contact D'Lynn Jacobs at promisingpals@simmons.edu or at the Scott/Ross Center (617-521-2245).
We hope you will participate in this wonderful program.
