Andrea Wolf, Director
As CEC Director, Andrea oversees a comprehensive career education program and professional staff that serves undergraduate, graduate and alumnae/i populations. She partners with academic deans, faculty and administration to build a student-centered career learning community at Simmons, using a core career curriculum based on the CEC's 5 Step Career Development Model. Her career coaching expertise is for those navigating career transitions, with a focus on mid-later careers. Andrea joined Simmons in August, 2007, bringing an extensive background in career development work in both higher education and the corporate world. She has served as Career Development Manager at Bain and Company and Vice President of Career Management Consulting at Right Management Consultants. In addition, Andrea has over 12 years' experience managing and then directing the career services office at the Harvard School of Public Health. As a writer for the Boston Globe "Job Doc" column she provided advice on career and workplace issues. Andrea has a B.S. from Ohio State University and an M.Ed. from the University of Cincinnati. She is a certified Career Management Fellow from the Institute of Career Certification International (ICCI), the highest level of professional certification for career management professionals, and was recently named a Governor on the ICCI Board.
Douglas Eisenhart, Associate Director, Employer Relations
Doug joined Simmons in 2008 to oversee the employer relations program in the CEC. In this role he represents Simmons to the employment community, which includes producing career fairs and other on- and off-campus recruitment events and overseeing resources such as CareerLink, Simmons' online job board. He also oversees the CEC website, the annual employment surveys, and is involved in technology, marketing, and strategic issues for the department. Doug came to Simmons from the corporate world where in his 30-yr. career in communications he held managerial positions with the Boston Globe, Monster.com, Houghton Mifflin, Harcourt Brace, and Group W Cable Television. For eight years prior to joining Simmons Doug was involved in the career space, including writing the monthly "Transitions" career column for the Boston Globe and editing and writing the "Job Blog" and "HR Blog" on Boston.com. A former faculty member in-residence at Emerson College and a published author, Doug holds a B.A. in English from Princeton, an M.Ed. from Harvard, and an M.B.A. from Columbia. He recently earned his Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certificate from the NCDA (National Career Development Association).
Peggy Grace, Assistant Director, Career Services
Peggy joined the Career Education Center staff in fall, 2006. In her role with the CEC she provides undergraduates, graduate students, and alumnae/i with individualized career coaching and group workshops and programs. She also serves as liaison to undergraduate CAS faculty and academic departments to identify career preparation and development needs for in-classroom workshops and programs, and she also manages the Humanities 370 career development course. Peggy brings experience in both higher education and corporate career services to Simmons. She was a Career Consultant at the Boston University School of Management Feld Career Center, where she provided career coaching to business school undergraduates and alumni and also taught an 8-week undergraduate career development course. In addition, Peggy has extensive experience in career and program management, training, and marketing gained during her 14 years with Drake Beam Morin (DBM), an international human resource consulting company best known for its outplacement and transition services. Earlier in her career, Peggy held positions in admissions, recruiting and counseling at the Malden Hospital School of Nursing. She began her career in education as an English teacher in the Boston Public Schools. Peggy has a B.S. from Duquesne University and an M.Ed. from Northeastern University.
Roxanne Jackman, Assistant Director of Career Counseling
Roxanne joined the Career Education Center in February, 2005. In her role she promotes the career development of degree candidates and alumnae/i through her counseling and coaching. Roxanne also oversees the career counseling staff, develops and executes career programming for students, and delivers workshop and classroom presentations. Prior to Simmons, Roxanne counseled MBA students as a Career Consultant at the Boston University School of Management Feld Career Center. In addition she counseled a diverse student body and alumni population in the Career Resource Center at Lesley University. Roxanne was a Career Consultant with the outplacement firms of Right Management Consultants and Manchester where she facilitated 1-4 day job search workshops for professionals who were experiencing job loss. Her background includes 10 years as a Campus Director for Fisher College where she launched and managed a continuing education start-up campus in Malden. Previous professional experience includes business, the arts, and public education. Roxanne received her M.B.A. and M.S.W. from the University of Michigan and her B.A. from Valparaiso University.
Jennifer Ferguson, Research Librarian
Jennifer joined the Simmons Library staff in June 2011. She provides research, instruction, content, and collection development services to undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty in the Arts, Humanities, and Careers. Prior to her work at Simmons, Jennifer was the lead Reference Librarian at Regina Library, Rivier College. Before transitioning to an academic career, Jennifer was a Senior Research Associate at Advent International Corporation, a Boston-based global private equity firm, where she conducted value-added reference, research and analysis of companies, industries, and technologies for worldwide investments. She has a B.A. in English from UCLA, an M.A. in English from Rutgers University, and an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Simmons College.
David Kovacs, Coordinator
David joined the CEC in January, 2008. As department coordinator he provides support to the entire department, with a concentration on employer relations and technology, as well as overseeing the student office assistants in the CEC. Prior to Simmons, David worked for three years at Liberty Mutual as an HR Representative. He also has experience as an intern at Medtronic and as a Student Admissions Representative at Boston University. David graduated with a B.A. in psychology from Boston University.
