YOU HAVE AN INTERVIEW!  FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO LAND THE JOB!

First:

Research more than just the organization's websiteGoogle the employer, as well as the interviewer(s). Most importantly, network for more information! Ask everyone you know if they have contacts familiar with the employer.

Second:

Prepare answers for these frequently asked questions:

  • Tell me about yourself (as it pertains to this job).
  • What are your greatest strengths?
  • What's your greatest weakness/area to improve?
  • What are your goals for the future?
  • Why do you want to work here?

Review your accomplishments to answer popular behavioral interview questions designed to determine how you might handle challenging situations. The premise is that past behaviors are often an indicator of future success.

  • Tell me about a time when you...

         -worked effectively under pressure.
-encountered a difficult situation with a co-worker or customer and how you resolved it.
-anticipated a potential problem and developed preventative measures.
-had to keep on top of multiple projects.
-created an innovative solution to a challenge your team/department was facing.

Third:

Practice your answers out loud
with a friend, and meet with a CEC career coach for a practice interviewer to gain professional feedback and coaching .

Finally:

Check out "Explore Our Career Toolkit" on the CEC website, and scroll to "Prepare to Interview" for additional information and resources.
