One of the great advantages of attending Simmons is the wealth of internship opportunities in Greater Boston that students can take advantage of -- year round. And right at the top of the heap (or the hill, in this case) is one of the most sought after internships available: working for the Governor of the Commonwealth, Deval Patrick, in the Governor's Internship Program.
There are multiple positions available in a range of different areas, from Communications (press and new media), to Community Affairs, Operations, Government Affairs, and more, all of which provide a rare inside look at a top-level government office.
As the Governor's website proclaims, "As an intern in any of the Governor's Offices you will get a first-hand education in the inner-workings of how government works, meet state and local leaders, and gain valuable insight into the legislative process."
In the photo above, for example, Production intern Veronica Wells records the Governor's brief recap video outside Quinsigamond College in Worcester in Spring 2010.
Interested? Learn more by checking out the internship posting on Simmons' online job board, CareerLink. Be sure to search for Job ID 23645 or "Governor's Internship Program - Fall, 2012".
You can also check out the information found on the Governor's website, including video interviews of student interns on the job.
Nota bene! Deadline for application for fall semester internships is July 20, 2012, so you may want to get going on that research and application now.
