Bartol Hall, the dining hall on the residence campus, is located at the center of the residence buildings. But it is more than just the physical center of the campus. Bartol Hall offers students a place to relax, meet with friends and eat good food. It is central to students' campus life.

Rose Dumais, a sophomore, says Bartol is, "a place to unwind, with a fair variety of options for meals. It's a nice place to sit with friends for an hour or so to catch up. In addition, the staff are helpful and dedicated". Kendall Bauer, also a sophomore, also commented on the staff, saying, "the staff are always really friendly. [Bill, the manager], is really helpful getting me the food I need."

South Hall.jpgHere at the Simmons College residence campus, there are nine different residence halls. Each one has their own qualities and characteristics. When you live on campus for a while, you can easily figure it all out. But for now, let's focus on my favorite residence hall, which is South Hall.

A Chat with Simmons Provost

Recently Adam Gray had the opportunity to speak with Simmons College's provost, Dr. Katie Conboy. In July 2013 Dr. Conboy came to Simmons from Stonehill College where she has worked for the past 25 years. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of Kansas and a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Notre Dame. Adam was able to ask Dr. Conboy some questions to get to know her a little better and see if she had any advice for students during the spring semester.

What is your favorite quote?

"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" from Hamlet. I am especially fond of this quote when I come home and smell something rotten in my refrigerator. Generally that means I have been spending too much time at Simmons and not enough at home.

What is your favorite college memory?

During my senior year I was able to travel to England for a study abroad experience. I made some amazing memories and encourage everyone who has the chance to go abroad. This experience helped expand my horizons and experience a whole new world.

New Year, New YOU! @Simmons

It's that time again! The New Year means a New YOU, so why not start by getting yourself physically and mentally healthy? Here are some exercise tips and resources to help you stick with your New Years resolution and improve the new you in 2014:

  1. Do what you enjoy!

You are more likely to continue with your exercise program if you are having fun. (Run, swim, bike, row, play a game of racquetball....)

  1. Find an exercise buddy.

You will keep each other motivated and committed to working out. You can also get creative with partner exercises to switch up your workout.
